What is a scheme?

A scheme is an alternative method of underwriting where specific brokers are authorised to provide cover for risks and issue policies and documentation on our behalf. They operate within strict agreed underwriting guidelines and use individually negotiated rates.

Ecclesiastical is a major schemes provider and we currently operate over 100 schemes, which include accounts such as:

All our schemes are handled by a highly dedicated team of over 30 staff.

Here to help you!

Ecclesiastical provides brokers with excellent service in all areas of its business.  This includes dealing with underwriting referrals and providing technical support as well as controlling the portfolio of insurance scheme business and maintaining and monitoring profitability.

So what does the Schemes Department do?

Each scheme’s performance is monitored monthly using management information systems and additional detailed analysis is carried out each quarter.  This allows the account handlers and broker to swiftly identify trends in both claims and premium adequacy and, where appropriate, take action.

We focus on building very strong working relationships with our brokers.  Apart from the daily contact our underwriters have, we meet our brokers regularly to discuss performance, underwriting and policy wordings, conduct annual audits and meet socially.  This regular contact has enabled us to work closely towards common goals of profitability and growth and build long-term relationships.

Schemes brokers have direct access to nominated Scheme Underwriters and Claims Handlers.
